The shirt: a style icon and an autumn/winter must-have

Welcome September, both eagerly awaited and hated in equal measure. The months of transition between one season and the next are always problematic for many reasons, one of which concerns clothing. At least this year, however, I would say that we have found a fairly excellent solution too, don’t you think?

Today, together with you, I would like to welcome the beginning of the new month by suggesting a must-have garment for the coming season: the shirt.

This garment is an evergreen for all four seasons, but that is not all: the shirt is a true style icon. It is no coincidence that world-famous designers and major fashion houses have dedicated entire collections, exhibitions and, more generally, much of their attention to this garment.

So it could not have been otherwise: the coming autumn/winter season demands that there be at least one shirt in your wardrobe. But surely you are not going to settle for just one?

2017 trends: the ruffled shirt

You will certainly have noticed throughout the summer: the ruffled shirt was a must-have. In social media photographs, on the streets and in shop windows, let’s be honest, we were pleasantly invaded by this new style, which won approval and a place in everyone’s wardrobe.

Last winter, shirts with ruching already made an appearance, not particularly timidly, before establishing themselves definitively with the arrival of the warm season. Feminine and coquettish, these shirts replaced T-shirts and tops with jeans, trousers and skirts, adapting to every occasion.

The autumn/winter season that is about to take centre stage calls for a return to more understated lines, plenty of denim—including in shirt form—and colour.

However, you will not be giving up your flowing shirts, will you?

Autumn/winter 2017 trends: the shirt

Like any self-respecting fashion angel, I did some research for you, looking at the new collections from several brands sold on this website. I browsed the catalogues in search of the perfect shirts: evergreen pieces that will allow you to look impeccable from 21 September onwards.

Geometric elegance blends with multicoloured prints that brighten the arrival of winter. However, the elegance of white cannot be overlooked, and if I had to choose a shirt that represents absolute elegance, I would definitely choose the one by Sandro Ferrone. That way, you too can have your ruffle.

Pleating also becomes flowing in an unusual white shirt by Fracomina, shown in the photo below. In this case, it is a garment with a simple, elegant cut that reveals all its beauty through its highly refined details.

Black retains its appeal, as always. And although total black may apparently have been slightly set aside for the coming season, studying the new collections confirms to me that this is not the case.
