The autumn 2026 trends are starting to take hold, both on our social media feeds and out on the high street, and one, in particular, has already won us over. We’re talking about animal print, which has made a comeback in our wardrobes in recent years.

It’s back again this season, but with a different twist that’s anything but predictable. The classic leopard print is making a comeback – to be worn without restraint – but alongside it comes a whole host of patterns taking over skirts, dresses, shirts and outerwear.

Leopard, zebra, tiger, and then, too, Dalmatian prints and even those inspired by the world of deer. In short, ‘wild’ fashion is back, but it brings with it glamour, a contemporary edge and even a touch of elegance.

Autumn 2026 fashion trends: welcome back, animal prints

For years it was considered the classic trend to be worn in moderation, but today animal prints have secured a much more permanent place in the wardrobe. Prints inspired by the animal kingdom are, in fact, used to add character to even the simplest of looks. And this autumn’s collections confirm this, bringing various interpretations of the trend to the catwalk and onto the streets.

From the most traditional leopard print to zebra stripes, via tiger print and more unusual patterns: this and much more is the trend we can’t wait to wear.

Leopard print: the great classic

Among this season’s animal prints, leopard print continues to reign supreme. It’s our instant fashion crush, destined to be more than just a passing fad. How should you wear it this autumn? A leopard-print skirt can become the centrepiece of an outfit when paired with a simple plain-coloured jumper; an animal-print shirt combined with a pair of tailored trousers can create a glamorous look, whilst an animal-print dress can be made more casual by pairing it with pieces featuring clean, simple lines.

Zebra: the graphic alternative to leopard print

If leopard print feels a bit over-done, zebra print is probably the most interesting alternative to try this year. The pattern is also colour-neutral: the classic black and white makes the print particularly easy to pair and use (almost) like a neutral pattern. A zebra-print skirt, shirt or dress can be worn with black pieces for a bolder look, or incorporated into a softer ensemble by pairing it with denim and neutral shades.

The Dalmatian print

One of the season’s most intriguing new trends is the Dalmatian print: irregular black spots on a white background that visually resemble polka dots, but with a completely different effect. An interesting choice – and certainly not yet overused – perfect for those who want to experiment with animal prints without resorting to the more familiar ones. On a loose-fitting shirt or a midi skirt, for example, it can become the standout detail of an outfit that certainly won’t go unnoticed.

The simplest rule is also the one that works best: let one piece (on its own) take centre stage, whilst keeping everything else basic and neutral. One of the reasons why it’s worth giving animal print a go is its versatility.

During the day, an animal print shirt can be worn with simple-cut trousers or jeans, whilst a skirt can be made more casual with a simple jumper.

For the evening, the same print can take on a completely different vibe: a midi dress or a skirt with a bold pattern instantly becomes more sophisticated. In your free time, however, you can experiment and let your imagination run wild, embracing the season’s many options.
